Elise Mitchell, AHC, E-RYT500, TIYT
Hi! Welcome to the Shala!
I am an ever-expanding human enjoying and exploring the dance between the mundane and the mystical. Devoted to the study and practice of yoga for about 20 years, I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500) with Yoga Alliance, a member of International Association of Yoga Therapists, a trauma-informed yoga educator, and in a former life... a national speaker for yoga in clinical treatment settings. I have over fifteen years of experience teaching to special populations that include those struggling with PTSD, addiction, depression, disordered eating, anxiety and panic disorders. I also specialize in working with neurological and autoimmune disorders such as MS, TM, and fibromyalgia. My passion for the therapeutic application of yoga comes from my own story of healing trauma. |

Since first studying biology in my pre-med, bachelors degree from Colorado Mesa University, I remember uttering more than once, "If I could, I would be a life-long student." So... yoga is a good gig for that. I am grateful to study with some of the most respected teachers of our time including Arun Deva and Srivatsa Ramaswami. I am an Ayurvedic Practitioner studied at California College of Ayurveda. I have been teaching yoga full time for the last 15 years in both public, private, and clinical settings.
I come to class with the intention that I am here to serve and deeply enjoy the many heart-felt exchanges in the shala. I bring my humble and ever-blooming knowledge and practice of Yoga to the mat -- philosophy, lifestyle, pranayama (breath practice), meditation, asana (poses) and their effects on our biology, psyche, and spirit. I also bring a relaxed attitude and a few nuggets of wisdom shared with me from my beloved teachers to whom I owe deep pranams (reverent gratitude). My classes are infused with compassion, total acceptance, and lightheartedness to help students find their center, their joy, and to connect with their authentic Self. Can't wait to see you on the mat soon! Om namah!

Sarah Stratton, RYT200
Sarah is a 15 year yoga student and trained as a teacher with Elise in 2016. She works and plays outside and loves the qualities of yoga that bring balance to the body, the mind and the positive effect practice has on her relationships and work. Her classes and teaching are influenced by Hatha and Ashtanga teachers, and very informed of yoga for athletes while including a restorative and gentle element. Sarah lives in Virgin and has taught a variety of classes in the community and is excited to share time together at the Shala!
